Sound and Shape Releases Laughing Lovers

Fans of emo, prog and proggy emo are likely to have fond memories of Sound and Shape’s 2014 record Bad Actors. The group, led by Ryan Caudle from the long-defunct outfit Oliver’s Army, has a penchant for wrapping its serpentine song structures in relentless rhythms and primo hooks with tight harmonies that they don’t get near enough credit for.

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from S&S, but that changes today, as we premiere a video for “The Laughing Lovers,” Bad Actors’ opening cut. The clip, directed by James Erdman, is a no-frills affair that showcases the band performing at The Standard over on Rosa Parks Boulevard. It’s a little less fancy than their previous vid (see the link above), but the song’s strong enough to be the star. Check it out above.
