Fans of pop-prog are likely to have fond memories of Sound and Shape’s 2014 record Bad Actors. The group, led by Ryan Caudle from the long-defunct outfit Oliver’s Army, has a penchant for wrapping its serpentine song structures in relentless rhythms and primo hooks with tight harmonies that they don’t get near enough credit for.
It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from S&S, but that changes today, as we premiere a video for “The Laughing Lovers,” Bad Actors’ opening cut.
The clip, directed by James Erdman, is a no-frills affair that showcases the band performing at The Standard over on Rosa Parks Boulevard. It’s a little less fancy than their previous vid (see the link above), but the song’s strong enough to be the star. Check it out above.
